Tomáš Konůpka, the man behind the supergenre project IKON, was literally destined for music. His father, a musician, deliberately steered him towards it. And it was he who made sure that Tomáš’s first instrument was not the drums, as he would have liked and which he was most often seen behind, but the piano. Konůpka has been involved in various projects since the early 1990s. He worked in Slut, Southpaw, Navigators, whose debut was released by the legendary SubPop label, and collaborated with Mydy Rabycad, or MYDY.

But it wasn’t until 2023 that he began to make a name for himself as IKON. The songs were created in pandemic solitude, often very intuitively and quickly. The project’s first two singles were recorded in Los Angeles, followed by an untitled album released the same year. The second record, simply titled MUSIC, was less than twelve months in the making. Konůpka was behind the complete production and all the instruments on both records.

And just like IKON, they are also heading for the first open-air edition of the Groove Brno festival, which will take place in July at Kozí horka at the Brno reservoir.
