Candy Dulfer will bring her hot funk summer to the first open-air edition of Groove Brno and she will not come alone. Her sensational band will be joined by an exclusive guest – singer Shelby J., who became famous through her work with the unique Prince.
Recipient of the Edison Jazz Lifetime Achievement Award, the Netherlands’ most prestigious jazz award, saxophonist Candy Dulfer has already earned her place in music history with her Grammy-nominated debut, Saxuality, as well as a string of collaborations with world-famous artists such as Maceo Parker, Prince, Blondie, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd and Aretha Franklin. She has also paved her way with a string of chart-toppers in Europe, the United States and Japan and, of course, unforgettable and energetic performances.
On the summer tour, Candy Dulfer will be joined by singer Shelby J. She has worked with Prince, toured with him around the world and contributed significantly to the Chelsea Rodgers track. She also performed with the American musical chameleon at the legendary Super Bowl halftime show in 2007. She has also toured with American multi-talent D’Angelo and guitarist Carlos Santana, and contributed to Roy Hargrover’s extraordinary RH Factor album.
The presence of such musical greats on stage, backed by a top-notch band, promises only one thing – it’s going to be one hell of a hot and funky summer.
