The project Cosmo Klein & The Campers is led by the Berlin-based musician Cosmo Klein, who in the past has immersed himself in a wide range of genres – from pop, soul and house to jazz and funk. Hits such as ‘Beautiful Lie’, ‘Feel Alive’ and ‘All I Ever Need’, as well as a duet with German singer Maya Saban, have made Klein one of Germany’s most important musical exports.
His dislike of traditional recording studios and love of motorhomes eventually translated into a mobile music studio, creating a unique space. “I don’t like studios. I always wanted to play outside as a kid and I think it’s still the same. I just can’t stand sitting in front of a computer and going to the same place to work every day. I don’t see anything inspiring about it,” he says.
So he started touring Germany, inviting music industry guests to his van studio, which he named Hymer Camper Studio in 1988. The unconventional recording venue attracted names from the international and national scene such as Cory Wong, Nils Landgren, Benny Greb, Hanno Busch, Claus Fischer, Pete Weniger, Jakob Manz, Felix Lehrmann and Jost Nickel. The result is the debut album “Soul Fiction”, released under the project Cosmo Klein & The Campers. It was released in May 2023 and the critics did not spare any praise. Twenty years of musical experience are reflected in a gripping and tight result, which also pulsates with great energy when performed live. Get a taste of the music from the van at the Groove Brno festival, which will be held outdoors for the first time this year.
