Singer and actress Bára Poláková is a five-time winner of the Anděl music award, which she has won for her two previous albums. She is the author or co-author of the lyrics and music and the author of most of the themes of her music videos. One of them, the video for the song “2-8-5”, was awarded “Best use of live streaming” by the Music Ally Sendbox jury in London. In recent years she has been more at home on the music stage than on the theatre stage, but as an actress she has appeared in several successful films: Bábovky, Prvok, Šampón, Tečka a Karel, Quartet and The Shadow country. For the latter two she was nominated for the Czech Lion. For Bábovky and Mazel a tajemství lesa (Mazel and the Secret of the Forest) she wrote the title songs “PoloVina” and “Voda” together with David Hlaváč.

For Bára, music is also a way to open up and support social issues that need our attention – with the song “Home”, in which she teamed up with Dan Bárta, Bára joined the Thanks to Foster Care campaign. Together with rapper Kato, she recorded the title track Jediná vteřina for Vít Klusák’s documentary 13 Minutes, which became part of a preventive campaign against speeding. Bára has been an ambassador for the Paraple Centre and the Social Clinic for many years and also works with Greenpeace.

If you see a girl riding a one-wheeler through the streets of Prague with her own sustainable “Poď si” sign, you can’t go wrong – it’s Bára Poláková.
